This workshop with Kimberley Pena is a great introduction to Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP). The Hive will be following up the workshop with a 6 week course, so this is the perfect opportunity to try it before committing to a course.
What is DMP?
DMP is a registered practice accredited by the Association for Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK under the UK Council for Psychotherapy:
"DMP recognises body movement as an implicit and expressive instrument of communication and expression. DMP is a relational process in which client/s and therapist engage in an empathic creative process using body movement and dance to assist integration of emotional, cognitive, physical, social and spiritual aspects of self."
Who should try DMP?
DMP is open to all but it can have particular benefits for anyone who is suffering from the symptoms of burnout or who be feeling overwhelmed with the pace of modern life. For anyone who has noticed states of anxiety and want to feel more in control and more connected to themselves as well as the world around them, both in mind & body. No previous dance experience is necessary, just a curiosity to explore the moving body towards the support of whole person health.
Cost: £30 per person. This includes 1.5 hour workshop, plus tea/coffee cake afterwards & the opportunity to chat & ask questions with Kimberley.
